Tyres below 1.6mm tread are illegal and cost you three penalty points and a fine per tyre. If yours are close to the limit, cracking with age or wearing unevenly, we'll replace them where the vehicle is parked — no need to book a garage or rearrange your day.

The legal minimum is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread. We'd recommend replacing at 3mm, and immediately if you can see cracking, bulges or exposed cords.
Not necessarily. Replacing in pairs across the same axle is usually fine. We'll tell you honestly which ones actually need doing rather than selling you four.
